Um um um...
today i was reading beattitudes..
Matthew Ch5
In verse 3 it says blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
I wondered what this actually meant
poor in terms of money means you dont have much relative to others.
spirit is the part of you that 'Thingy' you get when we you ask Jesus to be Lord of your life...a 'deposit' (Ephesians 1 vs 13 and 14)
so moving on from this we know that as christians we have a spirit from God and from this verse in beattitudes we see there are variations in the levels because this verse says poor which implies that there is a rich and lets face it, we have heard or seen or people that are rich in it.
but this verse then is extraordinary because it says to me...in my language...u may have a spirit the size of a pea (which means your going to heaven) but at that low level u can get the Kingdom of Heaven. And that is now, not in the future when u drop dead and then go to heaven, no its now...'theirs IS the kingdom of heaven. And what is the kingdom of heaven? Well a kingdom is a place that is subject to the rule of a king and his laws and promises. Everything in that place is subject to his rule. Jesus taught us to pray, 'Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.' Matthew ch 6 v 10. I think Jesus wants His rule, His will, His laws, His promises and His kingdom to be on earth as it is in heaven. And in beattitudes he is promising us that even with the groddy (sorry this seems the most fitting word for me) level of spirit I have ownership of all the promises and truths that are true in heaven and that are in the bible. EG...'Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.' Isaiah Ch55 v 2 or 'For He has delivered me from all my troubles' Psalm 54 v7 or 'He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; He will not despise their plea' Psalm 102 v 17 or 'I will bless her with abundant provisions;...her saints shall ever sing for joy' Psalm 132 vs 15 and 16. 'I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring Glory to the Father. You may ask for anything in my name, and I will do it' John vh 14 v 12 - 14.
So we who are poor in spirit have access / ownership to these and countless of other promises, truths and laws of Jesus set out in the bible. All you need to do now is believe and then, then you can get excited!
